Attentive listening, clear communications, and team work by all parties. The Architect gets to know the Owner and understands their needs and requirements. The Owner’s approval of each phase of work prior to proceeding is very important. Also, it is important to allow time for the Owner to process and understand the plans. What is the make-up of the project “team”? Several “team” members are a part of the design and building of a project. Specifically, they are the Owner, the Architect, and the Contractor. Affiliated design professionals such as a structural engineer, mechanical/electrical/plumbing/fire protection engineer, interior designer, and a landscape architect are often involved in creating a building. How are the fees determined? Fees are determined according to our role and level of service. We can structure our fee as a fixed amount, percentage of the construction cost, or hourly rates based on Owner’s needs.
